Abstract:

Objective To explore the effect of community-led nurse-teacher cooperation model on the knowledge awareness of diabetes mellitus in primary school students. Methods A total of 131 students from grade 5-6 in a primary school in Haizhu District from January to December 2022 were selected as the research objects, including 74 boys and 57 girls, aged 9-13 years. An experimental study was carried out on the students with the health education model of community-led nurse-teacher cooperation model. The changes of students' knowledge level and self-behavior awareness before and after intervention were evaluated by self-made questionnaire. Paired t test and χ2 test were used to analyze the data. Results The Cronbach's alpha of the self-made questionnaire used in this study was 0.799, and the KMO coefficient of Bartlett sphericity test was 0.79. The knowledge requirement rate of diabetes mellitus in children was 61.07% (80/131) before intervention and 82.44% (108/131) after intervention; the awareness rate of diabetes type was 26.72% (35/131) before intervention and 82.44% (108/131) after intervention; the awareness rate of typical symptoms of diabetes mellitus was 57.25% (75/131) before intervention and 66.41% (87/131) after intervention; the nervous fear rate for diabetes mellitus was 38.93% (51/131) before intervention and 26.72% (35/131) after intervention; the awareness rate of peer hypoglycemia treatment was 26.72% (35/131) before intervention and 54.20% (71/131) after intervention; the awareness rate of dietary precautions for diabetes mellitus was 67.18% (88/131) before intervention and 76.34% (100/131) after intervention; the awareness rate of exercise precautions was 51.91% (68/131) before intervention and 63.36% (83/131) after intervention; the awareness rate of treatment methods was 22.90% (30/131) before intervention and 78.63% (103/131) after intervention; the change rate of dietary habits was 38.17% (50/131) before intervention and 87.02% (114/131) after intervention. The score of basic mastery degree of diabetes mellitus-related knowledge was (7.44±0.24) points before intervention and (8.13±0.51) points after intervention, the score of partial mastery degree was (6.17±0.44) points before intervention and (6.36±0.32) points after intervention, and the score of non-mastery was (3.81±0.22) points before intervention and (4.71±0.23) points after intervention. After intervention, all indexes were improved compared with those before intervention, with statistically significant differences (all P<0.05). Conclusion The community-led nurse-teacher cooperation model can effectively improve the awareness of diabetes mellitus related knowledge in primary school students, which is worthy of clinical application.
