Effects of matrix metalloproteinases and matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors on chronic sinusitis

基质金属蛋白酶及基质金属蛋白酶抑制剂在慢性鼻窦炎中的影响

Abstract:

Chronic sinusitis (CRS) is a chronic inflammation of nasal cavity and sinus mucosa. According to its clinical manifestations, it can be divided into chronic sinusitis without nasal polyps (CRSsNP) and chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). The current conservative treatment effect is not good, and the postoperative recurrence rate is high, which greatly affects the patients' quality of life. The pathogenesis of CRS may be related to the destruction of nasal mucosa epithelium, tissue remodeling, bacterial infection, and other factors. At present, studies show that tissue remodeling plays an important role in the occurrence and development of CRS. Abnormal degradation of extracellular matrix (ECM) is a part of tissue remodeling, in which matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors (TIMPs) are the key factors regulating ECM metabolism. Therefore, this paper summarizes the influence of MMPs and TIMPs on CRS.

摘要:

慢性鼻窦炎是一种鼻腔和鼻窦黏膜的慢性炎症,根据其临床表现分为慢性鼻窦炎不伴鼻息肉(chronic sinusitis without nasal polyps,CRSsNP)和慢性鼻窦炎伴鼻息肉(chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps,CRSwNP),目前保守治疗效果欠佳,且术后复发率较高,极大地影响了患者的生活质量。慢性鼻窦炎的发病机制可能与鼻腔黏膜上皮破坏、组织重塑、细菌感染等因素有关。有大量研究表明,组织重塑在慢性鼻窦炎的发生发展过程中起至关重要作用。细胞外基质(extracellular matrix,ECM)的异常降解是组织重塑的一部分,其中基质金属蛋白酶(matrix metalloproteinase,MMPs)和基质金属蛋白酶抑制剂(matrix-metalloproteinase inhibitor,TIMPs)是调控ECM代谢的关键因子。因此,本文就MMPs和TIMPs对慢性鼻窦炎的影响进行综述。
